Sunday Golf - Minnewaska Golf Club in Glenwood. Shot gun start at 10:30

Minnewaska Golf Club

23518 Dero Drive

Glenwood, MN 56334

Minnewaska Golf Club features a rolling terrain and classic parkland design on it's 18 Hole Championship layout.

Offering five sets of tees from Junior to Back, it is a fair challenge for everyone but be mindful of the wind up on the hill.

The green structures are fairly small, true, and fast. The number one rule at MGC, keep it below the hole.

A fun and exciting layout with 5 par 3's, 8 par 4's, and 5 par 5's; there are plenty of birdies available.

Alexandria Trivia

  • Famous people from Alexandria include Tom Lehman (famous PGA Golfer) and Greg Johnson (not so famous golfer that started the Iowa Golf tour).  Current home of Brock Lesnar.

  • Alexandria, Minnesota is known as the "Birthplace of America" due to the Kensington Runestone, a purported artifact suggesting Scandinavian explorers visited the area in 1362.  The Kensington Runestone is a slab of greywacke stone covered in runes that was discovered in Western Minnesota, United States, in 1898. Olof Ohman, a Swedish immigrant, reported that he unearthed it from a field in the largely rural township of Solem in Douglas County.

  • The Kensington Runestone is important because it sparked a century-long debate about its authenticity, potentially offering evidence of 14th-century Scandinavian exploration of North America,

  • Home to Big Ole, America's Biggest Viking.  Standing tall at 28 feet, Alexandria boasts a giant Viking statue known as "Big Ole." Erected in 1965, Big Ole serves as a symbol of the city's Scandinavian heritage.

  • From 1968 to 1975,  Bellanca Aircraft Corporation manufactured the Bellanca Viking and Super Viking aircraft in Alexandria.  Bellanca Planes were known for their unique wood-wing design and high performance. https://www.aviationconsumer.com/used-aircraft-guide/bellanca-viking-6/

  • Birthplace of the Snowmobile: In the early 20th century, Edgar Hetteen, a pioneer in the snowmobile industry, was born and raised in Alexandria. Hetteen went on to co-found the Polaris Industries, a leading snowmobile manufacturer. This invention revolutionized winter transportation and transformed the recreational industry in snowy regions.
